After signing up to take an Intro to Contemporary Art class, I discovered that my true love is and has always been modernism - or at least the period from the beginning of impressionism in the 1870s to the end of modernism in the 1950s. I guess I'll have to see where contemporary takes me...but until then, here's an image of my all-time favorite painting, The Kiss by Gustav Klimt. Absolute adoration of the brushwork, colors, patterns, emotion, "starry sky" and especially the field of flowers at the bottom. Put me in a museum in front of this and I'll be lost for hours.
