kate spade book of the month club

One of the most innovative ideas for bags yet - taking a clutch and pretending its a book (or vice versa...just without the actual writing inside). For their Fall 2010 collection, Kate Spade decided to create a 'Book of the Month' club, releasing a new 'novel' every month. Choosing some of the world's classics and adding that novelty Kate Spade touch, all 5 have finally been released after a long wait since August. Emma and Romeo and Juliet are now available at Bloomingdale's for $325 while the other three are still on the Kate Spade website. I own the Great Expectations one and always get compliments on it - it's truly a one-of-a-kind piece that never fails as a conversation starter. Who says you can't love fashion and be intellectual?

kate spade's 2011

I could not have any more love for Kate Spade as a brand. No other fashion line is as charming, classy, quirky, preppy, unique, homemade and genuine - I could go on and on. They have a very specific sector of the market that they cater to and they own it like no other. Colorful gemstone earrings and a red polka dot dress while cooking? Yes please.

The brand's latest marketing campaign features the tagline "Live Colorfully" (see their website for illustration): each month has been assigned a specific color and will feature images, products and videos all pertaining to it. January's hue of choice is red - popping, eye-catching, fire-engine red. The video above is this month's short film, created by Ely Kim. As in typical Kate Spade fashion, the video goes along with a short, charming question vignette filled with answers such as Kim's medium (glitter!), theme song (Ceremony by New Order!), inspiration (fireworks!) and favorite thing about the color red (It stars the rainbow!).

Creative, sassy and coming up with innovative marketing campaigns that keep the customer involved - I just might be a fan for life.
